Everything you wanted to know about MENNONOT, and then some...[Mennonot Home Page] [Overview] [Subscribing] [Submitting] What is MENNONOT?Mennonot is a relatively new (4-year-old) "alternative" Mennonite publication published on an irregular basis (about 2-3 times per year) by Sheri Hostetler and Steve Mullet. Mennonot is a 'zine dedicated to those invisible masses we call "Mennos on the Margins." We created Mennonot because we felt there was a need for a publication which could provide a forum for discussion among those who for one reason or another feel marginal to the church at large and are not finding such a forum in the mainstream Mennonite media. We'll be honest and admit right up front that by "margins" we are defining the fringe that stands to the left of center, and we are not to be confused with the Falwell/Robertson/Dobson worshipers, yea, Bible-idolaters, at that other fringe (though fast becoming center) of the Mennonite church. Mennonot is not a part of any particular congregation or church organization (thank God). Our approach to Mennonot is that it maintain some degree of seriousness (though not heavy) with regard to questions of life and faith, that it not become a knee-jerk Mennonite church bashing forum (but is blunt and openly critical when appropriate), and that humor is sprinkled heavily throughout. Our primary goal is to see Mennonot become a vehicle through which "Mennos on the Margins" (or Mennonots, as we call them) can communicate with each other in ways that no official church publication can provide (or permit, for that matter, depending on the subject). Actually, it's hard to catch it all in words. Mennonot primarily speaks for itself. How do I Subscribe?Since Mennonot is not on a regular publication cycle (we're averaging about 2-3 issues per year), subscriptions are based on a per-issue cost rather than a time-frame. The current subscription rate is $2.50 (US funds) per issue (there are additional postage costs for mailing outside of North America). If you are interested in subscribing, please send $2.50 for each issue you wish to receive. Unless stated otherwise, subscriptions which we receive will be assumed to begin with the current issue, and will include as many future issues as payment is received for. (E.g., if you send $5 with no instructions, you will have a subscription for the current issue plus the next one). Back-issues are also available, though for a slightly higher per-issue charge of $3.00. If you want back-issues, please specify that explicitly when you send your subscription payment. Subscriptions can be mailed to: Mennonot, 5330 County Road 626, Millersburg, OH 44654Or if you wish, you can send e-mail to mennonot@keybridgeltd.com and we can bill you. Please include your mailing address, and note the number of issues you wish to subscribe for and the issue which should begin your subscription. As mentioned above, if you specify no information about issues, we will begin your subscription with the current one. Submitting stuff to MennonotMennonot seeks to be a publishing vehicle for its readers, and such material is of interest to Mennonot without regard to its religious value. So in addition to sending us your money, how about sending us your errant rants, ravings, poems, articles, drawings, etc.? Send that type of stuff to Sheri Hostetler, Editrix, 1026 E. 6th Ave, Helena, MT 59601; or email to: sherihoss@aol.com. Write Sheri also if you have article ideas or suggestions about topics for Mennonot. Women, womyn, womaen and wimmin are especially encouraged to submit (Eph. 5:22). |
